Mario & Lulu Canon shepherd RESTORATION HOUSE CHURCH, a congregation of approximately 30 families who reside in the abandoned, mountainside village of Artejo. The reason their village project was abandoned by the developer was due to the lack of potable water supply.

A neighboring village below them has been trying to help by piping in what they could, but only between the hours of 2 A.M. and 4 A.M. Hardly enough to supply what is needed. The lack of transportation hampers the efforts of the villagers to carry the necessary amount needed to survive.

Ninety per cent of the homes lie vacant in an area where housing needs are crucial. These 30 families, who are ministered to by the Canon¹s, chose to stay and try to eek out an existence. Mario & Lulu are doing above and beyond what is required of a pastor.

Engineering Ministries International together with JESUS IS 4 have produced a solution for the church to be able to provide adequate water not only for use at the church but also to offer free of charge to the children and families in the surrounding neighborhood.

The design consists of an in-ground reservoir to contain the water and store it when it is being provided during the wee hours of the morning and then a pump to elevate the saved water into a stainless steel tank and dispense it at sufficient pressure to two points of use. The first point of use will be the public restroom in the church building and the second would be a community spigot that would be utilized for the Community Children¹s Feeding Program and any other local resident who is in need.

The design of a system of this nature would cost about $5,000 in the United States, however, all the materials, including the pump and labor, would come to approximately $2000 due to the favorable exchange rate.

Rainy season is upon them and we are afraid that the 8 ft. deep by 10 ft. long by 6 ft. wide hole that they have already dug to house the concrete and steel for the in-ground reservoir will wash in and their labor will have been in vain.

As was stated this is very generous of Mario & Lulu as they will have to pay for the water themselves and also the electricity to operate the pump. But this is what people who serve the Lord do, serve their fellowman.
